This 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is a North American market model that has been in the same family since 1975. The current owner inherited it from their father, who purchased it in 1975, as a gift in 2018. It features a Light Beige (181) exterior with a Tobacco MB-Tex (103) interior and is powered by a 2.8-liter fuel-injected inline-six engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with a brown soft top, period-correct wire wheels, disc brakes, a lockable glove box, and a Becker Grand Prix radio. Included with the car are records from 2020 and a workshop manual for the 280SL. Recent maintenance includes a new shift rod, battery cables, throttle linkage adjustment, timing adjustment, brake flush, and steering box service. The odometer shows 4,000 miles, with one rollover presumed. This 280SL “Pagoda” is available through the selling dealer on behalf of the current owner and comes with an additional set of OEM wheels and center caps, lambswool seat covers, a service manual, various W113 marketing materials, recent records, and a clean Georgia title.
The car comes with the original 14” steel wheels and paint-matched hubcaps, although it was fitted with wire wheels when the seller’s father purchased it in 1975. These wire wheels are 14” in diameter and are equipped with Michelin Defender tires measuring 195/70 at all four corners. It features four-wheel disc brakes as standard. A full-size spare tire and the factory jack are included in the trunk.
